Tongue is firmly in cheek of course (hope this comes across).
Is anyone ready to have the "I love James Kochalka but..." conversation with me? I'm too scared to say anything else for fear I'll be shot down in flames.

I agree with you but I too still find myself reading. I get the feeling when he does those comics he's making fun of his own arrogance. I also find it hard to try express the things in my life I find interesting without it being this navel gazing self important material. I can never really say exactly why I do autobio, I know there's major pitfals involved but I think I'm just trying to get down in comic form what it's like to be a human..?

I hear ya Anthony. I'm really struggling with this at the moment (ie, navel gazing). All things considered, I suppose that Kochalka faces the very same issues... perhaps I shoudln't be so hard on him. I just really wish that someone would give him permission to stop the daily strip and give him a chance to focus on a big meaty project. It sorta feels like he just churns out fluff lately.
But who am I to speak! Ahem.... back to work.

I've felt like his stuff has been fluff for a long time, and I very rarely read it for that very reason. Actually its probably been at least two or three years since I last read any of his strips, so I probably shouldn't say anything, except I doubt anything much has changed in that time.
Much more importantsly, I wanted to say these Wednesday night meetings are getting too far apart :(

Oh my but your response is just so, so funny! You draw really well!
I've been reading Kids Craft Weekly for ages - I wrote that article on the newsletter on Suite, over a year ago. Hey, how come I never knew you had a blog!
Hope you feel better now, really really do,
